Paranoid park (迷幻公园) is directed by Gus Van Sant, who made "My own private Idaho", yet most famsouly for "Good Will Hunting". His subject is mostly about youth and the pain of finding the way in growing up, mostly they never did. Lot of his movies are set in Pacific Northwest, espeically Portland. Portland, where he lives, where everyone goes. And the cinemographer, is no other than Christipher Doyle, who shot the unsurpassable Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love.
It is raining today, heavily, a perfect day for movie in small theater in UWS. And the greyness of the movie, the suspense, visual poetry and refreshing structure of the story telling, ease and confidence in switching of lenses and pace, variety of sound track, and all those silence and lonely moment of boy trying to make sense of the world around him, having no prior point of reference in explaining, understanding or rationalizing, that inner anxiety and outer calm and innocence, when thrown into an unexpected human situation, seems real to me.
I don't know when we obtain an heart of truth and courage, and brain of reasoning, and when we can call it a done deal. It is just that every test that we are faced with in this life, it never seems that it gets easier. So let's be tender, and remember each as having a heart of children, forever.
我的少年多是青涩和不安,更像迷幻公园,而不是朱诺,只是今天,回头看, 才知道,少年时很多现实都是我们脑海里的想象,而没有别的去理解的办法,只能尽力,和等待。
